A few months ago we wrote about 19 residents of Wayside Cross ministries (see here and here) who were nearly evicted from their home because the city sought to evict them claiming the men who were required to register as sex offenders were living too close to a playground.
So far, the civil rights attorneys representing the 19 individuals were keeping the evictions at bay with the argument that the park is not a playground and the law only covers “schools, playgrounds or daycare facilities.”
Now, according to the Associated Press, it seems that to circumvent that argument, the City of “Aurora may apply for a grant from the state to upgrade McCarty Park, including installing more playground equipment there. The $218,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources would go toward the playground equipment as well as to fix up the water feature that is already there, city officials said.”
They were there first…the attorneys should point that out…
Isn’t it so ironic that such a story would be published on 9/11? Amerika reaps what it sows. It is a country that never was great and may never be. The Registries will continue to help see to that. Amerika always has to have some group to demonize and hate.
Today, with everything that is clearly known about “residency restrictions” in actual reality with actual facts, I do not have a tiny shred of patience for anyone who even has an unconscious dream that such restrictions are acceptable. Anyone who does is not a person. They are certainly not an American for whom anyone need have any concern. If I could push a button and kill all 100 million of them (or how ever many of the scum there are), I’d do it without a second of thought. That is what they deserve. Maybe some terrorist group will drop a nuclear bomb on all of our heads one day?
I hope if this criminal regime puts this park in and forces people away that someone literally burns that city down. Good karma.
I won’t be alive to see it but at this rate, there registered offenders will out number non registered citizens. What happens then? Doesn’t the majority rule? I am being sarcastic but serious, this has grown so large over the years almost every modern country is now imposing registries. It is a World wide epidemic of madness.
The one thing no one is considering is that the Wayside Cross Mission, is actually registered as a church. Additionally, as a compromise with the city currently the registered citizens do not leave the campus. A body warrant would not be helpful since the RSOs stay inside. When police start knocking at the door, I encourage the registered citizens to pray in the on campus church. The Aurora police will become famous all over the middle east shown dragging Americans from their church in the name of Allah! In this case, the playground is built to prevent people from exercising their religion, a Constitutional right!
Wait until every law enforcement patrol car has license plate readers. We will be harassed for just going to the grocery store. UCF Police did this and they already arrested someone on the registry after scanning their license plate. It was on the news but could not find the story of the arrest. The person on the registry was there to help their relative move into student housing. Sometimes a cool officer would verify the story and tell them to finish up and get lost. Another officer would arrest them, impound their car and kick the student out of school because they allowed an offender knowingly onto campus. If it wasn’t so cold, I would move to Norway.
Can you find the story?
I found the story of the license plate readers but they only mentioned the arrest on the news. This was about a month ago and can’t remember which station it was. I tried to find the written follow up story at the time but never could. I use to visit my son at the college a few years ago before he graduated and never had an issue but that was before they got the readers.
Here is one of the stories on it but does not mention that incident I spoke of.

The police state continues to expand in Florida. Like all other broaches of liberty, this modern version of Nazi Germany’s constant surveillance will only serve to provide an even more fertile environment for the worst types of systemic abuses by those who hold power.
All Americans should fight this in principle because the greatest threats to free citizens in the world have never come from lawless persons, but lawless governments wielding the power to control and subdue its people. We are increasingly making this possible here on our own soil, paid for with our own tax dollars no less!
It’s illegal for someone on the registry to set foot on a college campus? That’s new.
Does anything surprise you there days when it comes to registered citizens? Seems to me the rules are different every day and depending on what mood an officer or law maker is in that day.
Some states do make offenders put a bumper sticker on their cars . We all that is not a death sentence for whoever if driving that car. ( Sarcasm )
Ok to clarify, I spoke to someone at the student union at the school and they advised I misunderstood and the mention of arresting a sex offender on campus was a scenario of what the system “Could” be used for in the continuation of campus security.
Sorry for any confusion
The state thinks of a new hell every day for registrants and their families
I wonder if someone with $$$ recently bought property in the area and is now trying to get so’s out of the so property value goes up
Gosh, that would never happen, would it? Especially a politician or someone with ties to a politician. That they would purchase key land and then try to create “laws” to benefit themselves financially. They’d never be that immoral, right?
Whatever the reason or motive, whomever is behind ANY “residency restrictions” anywhere for any reason needs to be forced to pay.
The irony is, we’re being scammed as a result of the U.S. Government scamming it’s citizens with with a safety illusion known as Megan’s law. They’re both profiting from this boondoggle.
Reminds me of that Little Miami pocket park at Shorecrest, the one where they threw two kids toys onto an abandoned lot and declared it a “pocket park” when it looked like someplace you’d find Jason Voorhees.
Sadly, the Book Crime Family has promoted this idea throughout FloriDUH.
That was Marc Sarnoff’s little river pocket park.
From my point of view, this tactic is most insidious and should be recognized for what it is: weaponizing the registry law into a tool to enact banishment of registrants from society. If this is allowed to stand, then what prevents every single housing development in every single state from putting in a “pocket park” or “playground” in every new housing development simply as a way to preclude any registered citizen from ever moving in or even nearby?
Seminole County does exactly this. There are quite a few small lots that they buy, stick a bench and flag in it, and call it a park. I can only assume it is to continue to extend the restrictions to free travel within the county, especially because of the location of some of them.
Doesn’t ‘grandfathering’ fall into the equation somewhere? These folks are living in their home(s) before the playground. Something in my past study of the Constitution and the laws that led up to it, tell me that playground or not, these folks cannot be forced to move. When I was on probation, my home was within 1,000 feet of a playground…on HOA common area of which I am part owner, but that’s another story…and my home was grandfathered. Now that I am off of probation I do not worry about it.
While that may be true, the move would effectively shut down any help the mission could be to the registrant community over time as people transition out. It’s a loss to the city regardless… and truly Aurora will lose out as more registrants are forced away from support and stability.
Yep. And “people” who support these illegal, anti-American “restrictions” are too stupid to know it and too arrogant to care. I’m praying they are suffering today.
