Lauren Book brings in $250K in February as she weighs CFO run

Democratic Sen. Lauren Book added nearly $251,000 in February alone according to the latest fundraising reports filed with the Division of Elections.
The haul comes as Book is considering whether to seek another Senate term or run for the Chief Financial Officer position. She now has a massive war chest containing more than $2.18 million as of Feb. 28.

Definitely not her senator’s salary, but as a senator she can steer a lot of money into her pockets.
As a senator, she earns $29,697.00 (https://www.flsenate.gov/reference/publicrecords/salaries). But as a senator she pushed to double the amount the state gives to her charity, Lauren’s Kids (https://www.floridabulldog.org/2019/05/legislative-sprinkle-extra-half-million-dollars-to-state-senators-nonprofit/?mc_cid=52f8598f61&mc_eid=293b88dd35) from which as of 2018 she draws at least $185,000 a year according to her 2018 disclosure (https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/261252588/201943189349309279/full).
However, the “perks” of her job include millions paid to Sachs Media to promote her.

I forget the legal conflict of interest term but sounds like she is already double and triple dipping. And no one questions that???

Good question…
Florida’s CFO serves as one of three constitutionally elected state executives of the Florida Cabinet. Aside from making a whole bunch of financial decisions, such as what gets funded (which is probably why Ron Book is interested in having her in that position), she will sit on the panel that rules on clemency.
I see the article doesn’t mention her LK slush fund. With her on the Clemency Board, no registrant will EVER get off the registry. That is her goal.
