Lauren Book brings in $250K in February as she weighs CFO run

Book had more than $2.18 million on hand as of Feb. 28.

Democratic Sen. Lauren Book added nearly $251,000 in February alone according to the latest fundraising reports filed with the Division of Elections.

The haul comes as Book is considering whether to seek another Senate term or run for the Chief Financial Officer position. She now has a massive war chest containing more than $2.18 million as of Feb. 28.

    Trying to understand her appeal. When you talk to her most ardent supporters (or any Broward voter), what do they say they like so much about her?

    I know it has nothing to do with her definition of a day. And it can’t be all about sex offenders.

    What sort of damage could she do from that position, that she can’t currently do as Senator?

      Good question…
      Florida’s CFO serves as one of three constitutionally elected state executives of the Florida Cabinet. Aside from making a whole bunch of financial decisions, such as what gets funded (which is probably why Ron Book is interested in having her in that position), she will sit on the panel that rules on clemency.

        I see the article doesn’t mention her LK slush fund. With her on the Clemency Board, no registrant will EVER get off the registry. That is her goal.
