Let’s Keep Our Conversations On Topic and Productive
As our community continues to grow, so does the level of engagement on our website. We are grateful for that. Lately, we’ve seen a noticeable uptick in comments on many of our posts, with some articles receiving over 100 comments. This shows just how passionate and involved our readers are.
However, with that increased participation has come a new challenge: off-topic and irrelevant comments that tend to derail the conversation. When readers post unrelated content or steer the discussion away from the subject of the article, it makes it harder for others—especially those new to our site—to find meaningful and relevant information. It also diminishes the value of the conversation for everyone involved.
We want to remind everyone that the comment section should be a space for thoughtful, respectful, and relevant discussion related to the specific topic of the post. Before you comment, ask yourself:
Am I responding to the topic of the article?
Will this contribute to a productive discussion?
Is my comment respectful to others in the conversation?
If you have something important to share, whether it’s a personal experience, an observation, or a news item related to the registry, but it’s not relevant to the post at hand, we invite you to submit it as a potential article instead. You can email your articles to [email protected], and we’ll be glad to review them for possible inclusion on the site.
This is your platform. We want our website to continue being a place where visitors can contribute to meaningful and productive dialogue about the sex offenders registry. But we all need to do our part to keep the conversation focused, respectful, and on track.
Thanks for understanding and thank you for your continued support and engagement.
P.S. This site has a page for Off-Topic Discussion & Links, where you can discuss anything related to registry news and happenings. The FAC home page has a button link to this page to make it easy to find. Please be sure to check it out.

things will get better soon. There have been folks spreading misinformation like the ones claiming, without evidence, that scientific research suggests that registrants cannot be loved and those that do love registrants are broken people themselves. There are the ones who claim to support these laws who cannot explain why. And there are the self proclaimed vigilantes defending their actions.

please be aware and read article what FAC sent earlier. Your suggesting AGAIN and AGAIN all over about trolling. You must settle down and stop this provoke ion. Not everyone is obligated to explain Laws( with back up statements) If you think, you’re aware of ALL Law’s 🙌that are written under the Sun, you must be Genius. Let it be and relax a little.
Who do I report my place of employment to..help
FDLE – Either in person at the registration office or via the CyberCommunication Portal
fac
so does that mean that Anybody will be able to see my place of employment publicly?
a, I would think them posting your Place of employment would be compelled speech and therefore illegal. If you notice the only thing published is address. Charge, SO/SP and photo. Everything else is behind the wall so to speak.

Gotcha..thanks
I report in July and i just review my online reported info as I do periodically as things change. In my employment box (which has not changed in 7.5 years) there is not place to put job title so what now? This reporting of job stuff is nothing new.
Hello- I am glad someone asked this but I need to know which website can I see place of employments for offenders? I have a complicated situation and can’t go into details but it’s important. Thank you in advance!
Helen
So I have two questions that I have been unable to get answered. 1. With the new “Employment” language in the recent bills; what changed. I already have to report my Work address, phone number etc. and 2. I am not understanding the travel language. Do we have to report to Sheriff if we only stay two nights or less now within 48 hours before we leave? I thought was changed in the Harper V Glass case. Please any insight. I do report in July but I dont talk much in there only yes and no. How are you when i sit down and thank you have a great day see you in six months when i leave.
Thank you non trolling answers. 🙂
Good comment. The system is broken, and at my age, I don’t expect to see it fixed—which is deeply disappointing. I question the value of NARSOL’s strategy. Their focus on tackling issues one court case at a time, one state at a time, is just too slow and I think ineffective. Real reform needs to come from the legislature —state and federal. SMART needs to be changed drastically. Where is the interest?
FAC has a better structure and even a legislative arm—credit where it’s due. But in Florida, we’re up against powerful forces with no compassion for the injustice, how the system is abused: the governor, attorney general, sheriffs, and much of the voting public.
To change this, we have to hit three fronts: the legislatures, the media, and the voters. That means education, persistence, and persuasion. And we have solid arguments:
1. The registry is overloaded with non-violent cases—selfies, teen consensual petting, nudism, public urination, prostitution, streaking, and even illegal image possession, all mixed in with violent rapists, as the same threat. Nonsense.
2. The stranger-danger truth is that SO are most often committed by those NOT already known to LE, so all these laws only benefit the mindset of voters, feed political agendas, but offer no real justified level of threat protection, especially considering the human damage these draconian efforts have.
3. Yard signs are pure public shaming—useless. Law enforcement already has all the info they need. Tier 1 should not be public. You cannot make a case that Sheriffs can’t do their job and protect communities, without first totally obliterating the rights and freedoms of this class of citizens. Some would use camps or death penalties to further dehumanize these citizens, like we have done before. Have we learned nothing from history – man’s inhumanity to man. Or ignore that sheriffs and lawmakers are sworn to protect all citizens and uphold the Constitution for all citizens, including those legally living as citizens in America.
4. Research consistently shows sex offense recidivism is low.
5. Citizenship includes the right to vote, except in FL.
6. These aren’t monsters—they’re fathers, sons, brothers, veterans with families
There are real, fixable problems: shelters turning away SOs during storms, bans from parks, housing restrictions, homelessness. After all these years, there is still 1) no state or national written platform or strategy to changing this injustice. 2) no pressure on politicians to change their position. 3) no pressure on voters to become educated on the abuses and lasting damage to citizens. 4) no use of how other countries like Germany handle this problem better, 4) no pulling together in networking and strategy with other regional non-profit organizations like NARSOL, HRW, ACLU, SOPRI, academia like Dr. Emily Horowitz, and more.
Bottom line: I hope these comments reach someone who still cares—maybe a legislator, a voter, a journalist, or someone with influence and humanity. Especially in Florida, where the registry is a life sentence. That was never the vision of the Founding Fathers. And we all know it, but it’s not a politically popular problem to work at fixing and without the vote in FL, there seems no pressure to do anything more.

While not all trolling is illegal, certain behaviors may violate state or federal laws, especially when they involve harassment, threats, or other harmful actions.
@Bo
Well said Bo. Good poignant note about how Germans deal with this genre of laws. Germany doesn’t beat the proverbial dead horse; filching votes by perpetually increasing punishment for the same crimes.
As far as the trolls, I would say put up a pay wall, but I’ve seen trolls pay to continue trolling so idk.
Bo, thanks for the insightful comments.
How about banning the trolls?
No end
Against the law, unless they personally treaten you. Plus yo would be banning half of this Forum .If someone challenges your statement or opinion is automatically TROLL. That would be wrong approach
1. It is better to have “half as many participants” if half are indeed trolls. It discourages some who would participate from doing so. As i’ve previously stated elsewhere, if a Registered Person comes here and sees the comments, they might leave and never return. Trolls win when that happen.
2. I’m willing to be more than half of the trolls is just one or two bored trolls reposting under multiple names. It isn’t like you have to sign up to comment.
3. “If someone challenges your statement or opinion is automatically TROLL.” That is part of the shaming tactic trolls try to use to convince people to let them stick around. Accusations of places being “echo chambers” attempt to shame us into letting them stick around to disrupt your forums. There is no sincerity among the “debate me bro” crowd. When has a troll said ANYTHING of value here? Again, if we can’t to hear that we should unalive ourselves we can just go to a Zuckerburg or Musk-run platform and get all the hate we want.
It seems to me that either FAC can’t find a moderator for the site or they found one but is too incompetent and/or lazy to perform the task. If that’s the case, find someone else willing to delete troll posts.
I think sometimes we need Trolls to make things 🤣more lively. We have storytellers. we have singers. I bet hard working FAC gals and guys need some laugh to make day go by fast. Laugh is good for a soul.
Thanks
Good job Fac
Question to FAC( not Cherokees or bwj)
I just like to know people who post or approve comments, are they Volunteers, ex offenders themselves or someone with legal background? Just trying to understand, how this works. Thank you… hope didn’t offend anybody.
The moderators are a small team of members who have stepped up to take on the role. They are comprised of board members and active members. The role is to try to keep the conversation on track and delete comments that don’t meet our code of conduct. We know who the moderators are and they have been vetted. It might seem inconsistent because there is more than one person in the role and with the influx of new site visitors, we’ve had to bring on new moderators to help keep up, but it’s getting there. Just to share context, as I write this, there are 243 deleted comments in the trash bin and that’s only a couple day’s worth.
The posters are the general public. We’d like to think it’s mostly members, but clearly many are not and that’s alright. We chose not to put our forum behind a login or paywall so that the general public can learn and share in the discussion. Unless someone chooses to use their real name, the people who post are anonymous. You are posting as “concerned”, but we have no clue who “concerned” is. That’s fine. Anonymous speech is protected by the First Amendment and most people wouldn’t be comfortable sharing if they had to disclose who they are. There’s no vetting process for anyone who posts. We don’t know if they have a legal background or are ex offenders. That said, we do have some metadata that comes in with each post, so if we see the same IP address repeatedly posting under different names, we know its the same person. If anyone posts a direct threat, we can give the IP address to law enforcement and they can identify the individual through their ISP. Thankfully that’s only happened a couple of times.
Nobody is paid or on staff to post or moderate. You see the same people posting A LOT because either they feel strongly about the cause or this is their community and they like it here. The opinions of the commenters are not necessarily the views of FAC.
Fac.. thanks for an expeditious answer. In my opinion people who are being called Trolls are not really Trolls, all they do is try to express their opinion cuz they haven’t been in the same predicament as Offenders. I see comments from several of your Members, accusing Trolls of being mentally unstable ..crazy..etc.
We need to do a better job of stopping that.
