Member Submission: Female registrant receives unsolicited card

The following was submitted by a member who is a female required to register.

I just wanted to address the fact that I received a Christmas card in the mail today. It has no return address but it had my full name including middle and was very unnerving. It said that my ‘picture’ was sexy and seductive and that it captivated this person. Calling me a secret admirer and gave me a number to ‘call or text’. It came to my house. I’m disgusted and disturbed. No privacy for us trying to heal, move on, and live. I don’t know if I report this to my officer, my attorney, or do nothing. Anyone else get this?

The number this person gave isXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Just a warning and heads up. Plus asking for advice.

I would call my lawyer and get their advice then go from there. But she has the unquestionable right to file a report to LE and the U.S. Postal Inspector. But she would also have to report those contacts with LE to her probation officer.

This is just another example of vigilant harm from the public knowing the personal information of someone who has enough problems starting from the “problem” to why they offended in the first place and the repercussions of the offense. It is a long hard time to deal with while trying to better there self and live as normal as possible. They hear of all that apply rapidly as registry “laws” go on and on and if that isn’t punishment enough they fear from some stranger doing harm to them or other family members. This lady who regrets making a terrible mistake is worried about a stranger and what he might do. It is enough that a s.o. will die early from the stress they go through when all said and done.. If I knew what I knew now I would have stopped myself from offending in the first place.. The word needs to get out to potential future offenders, which would be probably at least 40 % of the world…

I will reply to my post: I should have stopped at where it says all said and done…. The rest is irrelevant to the subject I think!. whether it makes it through to the public is up to moderation!!. I will on a different subject later. Thanks FAC….

Being placed on a public registry subjects all of us to potential harm. Being a woman on the registry would be very scarey indeed. Reading what was on the card is not threatening or criminal in any way. It’s inappropriately flirtatious and I must say creepy. The card doesn’t appear to rise to the level of threat. I am not sure anything can be done. If you were to get a second card or contact That may be cause for concern. The number is a sprint number from Detroit but who knows where the phone might actually be located. Hopefully you have a husband or brothers that can resolve any future creepiness. I’m sorry you are going through this.

      Dont tread on me,
Back when I was on probation, I received a letter Addressed to me; return address was my house.
Inside the envelope was my sex offender flyer with an attached message.
“Do not come out of your house. Stay in your house, we dont want you around, or to see you. Get someone else to cut your lawn.”
I called Broward Sheriff, they came out and read the letter. They said the letter was threatening; even no “direct threats” were made. And that it is against the law to send sex offenders this type of contact.
While the cops were there, they noticed the neighbor next to me was peeking around the corner, listening. They (cops) went over to the neighbor and told him that I have every right to live there as they do. And if any harm, or property damage is done to my house, that THEY will be taking his whole family down for questioning.
I didnt have another problem with those neighbors ever again. And a year and a half later, they moved.
Report things like this to the police. IF YOU DONT and something happens, the cops will say “why didnt you tell us about this”???

” It’s inappropriately flirtatious and I must say creepy ”

As a woman, there is a difference. Inappropriately flirtatious is my married boss trying to hit on me in the work place knowing that I’m married as well. This was just downright creepy and reads like a scripted scene of some horror movie that is about to get ugly in the next couple of scenes.

I would take it to your attorney to start with and maybe let him advise you or let him pursue it for you. This could be a stalker so stay aware of who’s around you and what’s going on okay? Anything odd, call the cops for what they’re worth and report a “suspicious person”. Others may have other and better suggestions. I used to teach women’s self defense many years ago and I can suggest that you quietly go to a do it yourself store and buy a 3′ closet dowel that fits comfortably in your hand and just keep it in your car and/or behind your front door at home (maybe get 2?) The following video will give you some very basic techniques that you can privately practice for self defense and they are very effective, I assure you. If you are probation this should not be problematic. I always taught my ladies to say it was “a dog stick” for when you go walking. Just never specify whether the dog has 4 feet or just 2. 🙂 Here’s the link to the YouTube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXSntGMkVR0

Sorry, after some review, that video is to flashy for practical non-martial artists. This is a bit better and uses a 2 ‘ escrima type system which is pretty darn good and not all that hard to pick up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QANUR3yLZcc

i say report it everywhere in writing including fbi, homeland security, dept. of justice, postal inspector, us attorney, state attorney, fdle, sheriff’s office, and many more. this will do at least 2 things. make a report, and take up their time ie. cost $$$$

Let the cops text them and see what happens. Of course, they won’t because they will think that this is part of our punishment…to be continually persecuted for the rest of our lives…
