MI: Sex offender registry update passes state Senate

The Michigan Senate voted Tuesday to update the state’s sex offender registry laws to comply with a recent federal court ruling.

The decision blocked increased reporting requirements for people convicted before new, tougher laws took effect. The court also declared unconstitutional a provision that allowed the state police to decide if an out-of-state crime warranted reporting.

The matter has been in near-constant litigation in some manner for years. Brinks conceded the issue could still come up again.

“I’m not 100% sure that this will settle it. But I think that we’ve done our part today to make sure that we are in compliance with this most recent court case,” Brinks said.

notice they haven’t mentioned “what’s in the bill”? This is Michigan. You can be sure it’s the same as the “the bill” they passed to address the courts orders last time and the time before.. Michigan legislature has many creative ways to turn the screws making matters worse ignoring court orders while pretending to come into compliance. I would place money this new bill is exactly that (again).. Expect a new atrocious mess and a new round of court battles . The government is fighting with tax payers money and our time.. they’ve got lots of both to burn. it’s called attrition..they can play these court games forever at bo cost to them, just waiting for us to run out of money..

Venessa>>> Your gonna HATE me cause I am the one who can rock the registry into abolishment being a punishment. Challenge accepted. I took this legal challenge on 30 years ago once before with the Kankas, your nothing compared to them with this.

FAC-3 >>> Not waiting 13 more months Bud, we are about ready to file the civil suit. I’m sure they will attempt to settle out of court because of what it will expose. IF I do it’s gonna cost them big time. I offered VJ my case to review but was yelled at. Yelling at me it’s gonna cost me a lot of money, No one can steal my thunder when I AM the storm. I will win this case and they will be footing that bill also.

It didn’t matter what Circuit I am in or from because I was granted Due Process under U.S. Constitutional Law on this ACT. It is a breach of this civil judgement disobeying a court order inflicting a second punishment of public notification. My conviction records were court sealed in 1995 on this ACT by a judge. Lee County Sheriff Office and FDLE unmasked me in Dec. 1998 using H.R. 2137 now they lied to try and cover this up cause they know that won’t work. They didn’t know who I actually am when they lied either. What we did was find what caused this breach for all of us not just me. V.J.’s brashness of raising her voice at me with “All circuits have ruled its not a punishment” was a half truth. IF a New Jersey Retroactive Tier Level 1 was put on any public registry in ANY state it became state inflicted punishment under the Ex Post Facto AND Double Jeopardy clauses of the U.S. Constitution exposing the hidden punishment against the low level non violent registrants. I have the 3rd Circuit ruling to back this civil judgement up for me, however can I bring the rest of you with me? IDK. They could only require me to register but they were not to have made it public record. I spit true facts not bullshit. When I come in here it’s not to beat the war drums against FAC or you, it’s to rattle their cage. ( and to see one I owe a case of beer to already ) I know they watch this and it will give them notice. “It’s coming!” With just 1 of the 39 had they breached it like they did, it would expose what Zimmer and others tried to hide. I had planned to have come forward with this in Grand Rapids but I guess not now with the “Dumb Dumb Boys”. We have some major plans ahead. Get behind me cause I am the real Megan’s Law John Doe Ex Post Facto. I’m sure by now you know, I know what I’m talking about. When FDLE hit me with Smith v Doe I laughed, that’s like telling Clark Kent that guy over there is Superman. I’ll keep you informed when stuff can be posted.

Pretty much everyone on here agrees that the worst predators can’t change. That is true BY DEFINITION (thanks, Captain Obvious!). But I don’t think that’s who BWJ or others are advocating for.
