MI: Sex offender reports confrontation, assault by kids
A registered sex offender in Allegan County said he could not stay silent about the strangers who showed up at his home early Sunday morning.
“I thought, ‘You know what? I’m gonna reach out to you guys because … if I don’t do something, (what if) somebody else loses their life because I didn’t take action?’ the husband and father told Target 8 Monday.
He wasn’t willing to risk it.
“The other sex offenders that live in the area that don’t know (about what happened) could get attacked,” he explained.

I would have stayed in the house and waited for the police. Confronting them was the worst thing he could have done. I had two kids do that to me and when the two Deputies arrived, I pointed to their house.
They were there so long I thought they were not coming back to speak to me but they did and promised me the mother said their two boys were never allowed on my street again. That was not me saying that, the mother banned her own kids from coming on my street. Three years later, I have not seen either of them again.
If I was rich, I would buy the entire street, buy everyone out and put up a gate.
I think this is the most reasonable answer here. Pair that with modern security/doorbell cameras, and “hunters” only incriminate themselves when they try to harm others.
This guy’s heart was in the right place, but he forgot that the world doesn’t see him in the same the way those who are closest to him.
He did some things right and a lot of things wrong:
RIGHT:
– Kept his house secure (they didn’t get in unhindered)
– Was paying attention to unusual activity
WRONG:
– No security cameras (assumed – otherwise why go out against 4 that late at night?)
– Didn’t call the police
– Opened the door (talk through a doorbell or other security camera instead)
– Didn’t have any self-defense aids on him
– Didn’t see the reality of the situation for what it was. You can’t talk yourself out of a fight with anyone who shows up at midnight.
– Wasn’t ready for the fight
This man should be prepared for future vandalism/violence. This won’t be the last time unless the perpetrators are caught.
Nothing says anything about restricting knives, machetes, bats, bear traps, bow and arrows, or pointy sticks, though.
I’ve already posted numerous times about how I’m on the registry over an entrapment case in Oconto Wisconsin. A very corrupt jurisdiction. That being said, if anyone wanted to Target me for simply being ‘on the registry’, the moment they throw the first punch is when my pickaxe will finish the fight. I have no filter or qualms. I’ve been pushing myself in the weight room for such occasions if they were to happen.
“One of them stated that the people on the registry need to be dead,” he recalled. “That’s when my wife said, ‘enough’ and she told me that I needed to come in.”
OK Folks, first, you don’t owe anyone an explanation. Not a damned thing.
Second, unless you’re ready to throw down or you’re good with a weapon, don’t confront with these idiots. If they tresspass, call the cops if you must.
I wish that those with resources in our movement would go after the social media outlets that are hosting these vigilante scum. Many of these young self-proclaimed “predator hunter” groups watched TCAP or other vigilante douchebags gain a little notoriety, and they’re out chasing clot themselves.
It doesn’t help that some Registrants think that we can reason with thse low-IQ thugs. They don’t care about your background. If you’re on the registry, you are a target to them. Nothing more.
Anyone who comes to my home with such intentions is seriously gambling their safety and their life.
There’s a internet meme of a black man from a movie that’s pointing to his head as if he came up with something clever.
Under it is a statement that people should rob the homes of people on the Registry because our homes are easily found and that we can’t have guns.
I think if we were allowed to have them, we’d have a few less vigilantes trying to get Internet clout.
There are several black powder weapons that are not considered firearms in the state of Florida or for that matter under federal statute. Add to this crossbows, swords, axes, and many other items.
If a group of thugs attack me on my own property the cops only need to bring body bags, because I care more about my family’s safety than I do about their survival.
In Florida, antique firearms, which are defined as those manufactured in or before 1918, including matchlock, flintlock, and percussion cap guns, are generally not considered firearms under state law unless used in the commission of a crime. However, this distinction does not apply to felons, who are prohibited from owning any firearms, including black powder guns.
