Michigan prosecutor tells vigilante to stop chasing predators
State authorities are telling a metro Grand Rapids man who confronts suspected sexual predators to stop what he’s doing, saying “vigilante activity will not be tolerated.”
“I strongly urge the public to leave this work to career professionals,” a Wednesday statement from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel read in part.

Ya know, you can’t even buy a cup of hot coffee at McDonalds without a warning on it that gives you some instructions so you don’t harm yourself or someone else, otherwise you could be sued . So how can they legally get away with putting out people’s personal information to the public without giving instructions and details as to what it’s supposed to be for and explaining the low recidivism rate of offenders on the list , and explaining at each picture that this person has not been determined to be a threat to the public and is not considered a pedophile unless they have been convicted of multiple accounts of it. Also explaining that the list is not for the public’s use but only for the use of law enforcement. When is this law suit going to be ready to sign?
He is not targeting people on the registry. He is setting up sting operations and targeting those who believe they are meeting a minor for sex.
This really doesn’t have much to do with the sex offender registry and the issues facing families that are on it.
It has a lot to do with the registry because the registry helps promote vigilante behavior. And if you knew the history of this movement, you’d understand that these vigilante groups eventually start targeting groups like FAC as well.
Fair enough. But if that is the reason for FAC posting this news on its site, then I would prefer FAC say so. The fact is, I don’t think FAC supports what EITHER SIDE in this story is doing.
when you place faces,names,address, vehicles, emails,phone numbers, employment and education on a website and say “hate this person ” you are bit moronic and hypocritical to later say “dont do vigilante activities ” against the persons you’ve marked…..I find it a tad ironic you’ve included the caveat ” it’s the job of professionals”…is there a special license or degree that one gets to make vigilante behavior acceptable ?. let me guess..

The guy is creepy. I doubt a warning is going to stop him. He obviously thinks he is the law.
He is a waste. You cant help people like him. He will continue to repeat his assaults until he is cashed out.
This guy is doing exactly what needs to be done, I live in Michigan and the pigs/cops are to lazy to do their jobs, They are always asking us the public for help, well that’s what this guy is doing he is doing the pigs job for them because they are to lazy to do it their selves, and guess what he even caught a pig/cop trying to hook up with a young girl, and he confronted this pig head on.
You’re on the wrong page to be saying such thinks. Vigilantes should be condemned at every opportunity. This clown is no hero.
Cops aren’t great but at least there’s somewhat of a constitutional standard that invalidates bad arrests. There ARE no standards for these scumbag vigilantes.
I am on the right page, it’s just some of you bootlicker’s and snowflakes can’t handle the truth. Also for those who say he is impersonating a cop, your wrong because there is nothing in or on the news that says he is impersonating a cop NOTHING. He’s just confronting this idiots because the pigs are again to lazy to do it them selves, and some of these people perverts are pigs them selves like the one he confronted at a park.
I tend to sympathize with Bobby’s position here, though it’s made less persuasive by labeling people bootlickers and snowflakes just for disagreeing.
