New Law Takes Effect Today in Missouri Providing Relief to Some Registrants

A new law goes into effect in Missouri today that allows some people required to register as sex offenders to petition for removal. Previously, Missouri, along with 16 other states, had a one-size-fits-all approach that kept everyone on the registry for life.

They learned the system was unmanageable and implemented a tiered system that is offense based. The three tiers are 15 years, 25 and Lifetime. The sponsor of the law, Rep. Kurt Bahr, said the change was designed to encourage registrants not to re-offend.

Florida still has lifetime registration for all. We need to keep pushing for that to change.

How does the new Missouri laws affect those that are convicted out of state?

This only impacts people in Missouri – if you have any ties to there, consult with a local attorney.

I’m from New York State and just recently after battling a year was promoted from level2 to level1 on a modification through their board of examiners. Even though it means squat here in Florida, it’s one step closer after 20 years (1991) Light at the end of tunnel…Don’t know,Florida is like a third world country. Just got to keep the faith.

If reason, logic and facts where used there would be a tiered system in Florida that would not only allow a way off of the registry but allow the tens of thousands who no longer live in the state (and therefore are not needed to be listed at all) a way off.

If all those who should be off the list due to not being a threat to others or having already served decades where removed a registry might have some reason to exist BUT in its present form it is simply a tool used by politicians and law enforcement to manipulate the public with fear and give the very false appearance that checking an online map with keep children safe.

Stranger danger is a lie as studies and statistics have proven that most sex crimes against children are done by other children OR someone that the child and/or child’s family already know – NOT A STRANGER and certainly not some dot on a map! I explain the details of this “scam” on the site SexOffenderTruth.com for those interested.

Stop the lies and registry stops! Call out the lying profiteers like Lauren and Ron Book!

No tier. No registry period! No justice! No peace! That was the cry. This entire thing has to go.
