Sex Offense Registry Fact Sheet – April 2018

Emily Horowitz, author and Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice, has put together the Registry Fact Sheet linked to below.

This is a very well researched, comprehensive document that is full of useful information (including authorities) that you can cite to when contacting your legislators, the media or anyone you communicate on sex offender issues with.

Thank you Dr. Horowitz for putting this together.

Fact! All other labeled offender can take a 7, 10, 15 year background check. Except of course a Sex Offender, which is Lifetime failure, no matter the individual aggravation.

It’s a nice article, but the links in the pdf file aren’t clickable. Can you give us a link to the article somewhere online where we can check out her reference links?

This part seems to be outdated:

“*What are the unintended effects of sex offense laws? “In Miami,
Florida…over 60 sex offenders are now living under a bridge because they cannot
    locate compliant housing.”

This article seems to have the most accurate numbers: http://all4consolaws.org/2018/02/fl-according-to-homeless-trust-over-45-of-homeless-in-miami-dade-county-are-sex-offenders/comment-page-1/

I’m keeping tabs on this because as of the end of this month I’m going to be homeless myself.
