Shady Grady Judd at it again.

“Shady” Grady Judd, sheriff of Polk County is at it again. Another name and shame opportunity for people required to register. This time it was “Operation Trick-or-Treat” a month-long operation that resulted in the arrest of 18 out of 1449 registrants (1.2%) in Polk County for petty technical registration violations.

Way to go Grady!!! How much did that month-long operation cost tax payers? How about the cost to arrest, prosecute and imprison people for petty BS that would not be illegal but for the fact that the person is required to register. Instead of touting yourself as having a 98.8% compliance rate, you’re turning it into another name and shame opportunity? Good for you!

Makes the Sheriffs , Police Chiefs and other officials appear strong on crime to the Non registered public who would be happy if most of us were sent away forever or worse.
Years ago we did not have many on our sides. Even most attorney’s would not take a sex offense case. I am not saying anyone should support someone committing any offense but we all make mistakes. Glad there are people and organizations that take up our cause ( for justice ) like F.A.C and other great groups.
Those of us who have not had any offense before or after ( Some of us going on 3 decades or more ) can not catch a break as a lifelong grudge is held against us long past our sentences. We are forced to live with new rules and sanctions a couple of times a year, wondering each day we wake up, what new restrictions, fines, fees and ways for us to mess up and go to ( Or back to ) prison, probation or an ankle bracelet.

That brings up something I have thought about for a long time. Let’s say one of these high profile Sheriff’s has a son and he is caught in one of these stings. I can guarantee you, the sheriff will do everything in his power to keep it under wraps, even to the point of making it go away. Now that if discovered, should be enough to get them removed from office.

Most of the time they will, BUT when Shady Grady’s nephew got caught, he made an example of him. Just to show he was impartial.

JZ, your post is newsworthy. I hope you will send to to the same news outlets that covered Judds wasteful operation.

      YES!!!!

Pretty easy to make headlines abusing a class of hated American citizens who really have no way of defending themselves from a thug such as joker!

Makes it appear that he is tough on crime although it really shows that he is lazy and going after low hanging fruit that takes ZERO effort while ignoring real crime!

Why is this allowed to continue? So others can feel superior by blaming all of society’s woes on a group that has nothing to do with them – sounds just like another group that was marginalized,,,blamed and then attacked – Jews, Blacks, Gays, immigrants…the list goes on and on!

Everyone should copy and past this on that county’s Facebook page, or have a friend/relative do it. With emphasis on the part that says
“….petty BS that would not be illegal but for the fact that the person is required to register.”

And the sad thing is, when one of these people get “Re-arrested” for a petty violation, their photo and name are dragged through the mud again.
Not everyone sits at the computer all day looking through the registry but almost everyone watches the news.
Imagine even as an offender, things are going pretty well for you lately then all of a sudden your photo and name is all over the news for a violation, however that is not what the viewer sees and hears. What they hear is ” Joe blow, a convicted child rapist who lives at 123 maple street was just re-arrested”.
Not saying everyone or anyone on the list ( including myself ) is an angel by any means, but not everyone kidnapped and raped a child. For Heaven’s sake, there are people on the list for peeing in the woods where someone saw their privates exposed.
I have always said that the news will sensationalize a situation to get the story at “ANY” cost without regard to that person maybe being innocent. I see the microphones crammed into people’s faces as they leave jail on bond, chasing people to their cars, parked outside their houses without any concern for that person’s family or care if they might even be innocent. I have even seen the news come up to a door with an obvious no trespassing sign.
And of course, if someone is found innocent, never a retraction, follow up or any apology.

What’s sad is they are all going to jail in Polk county 6-12 months and loose everything and family suffer. Maybe someone can pull the plea deals and build a vindictive prosecution lawsuit.

I always make it a point to not be home on Halloween.. I go to crowded places like Walmart that has lots of cameras and I can talk to multiple people so they will remember me just in case.
