Sheriffs Offices Pursuing Petty Offenses

In the past few months, Florida Sheriff’s Offices are looking for low-hanging fruit by going after some very petty offenses. Volusia County issued a press release today announcing the arrest of “76 Volusia County Sex Offenders and Predators”, but when you dig into the details, you will find that very few – just a few – were arrested for a new sex offense. Most were for technical registration violations or some pretty petty crimes. One of the 76, for example, was charged with having a caged racoon.

According to a Sheriff’s office spokesperson, the operation (called “Operation Neptune”) was said to last three-months! That’s a lot of time! The U.S. Marshals Service and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement assisted in the operation. That’s a lot of resources!

What most stories don’t promote is that hundreds (representing more than 9/10ths) of the checks they did, were completely compliant.

A few months ago, in Polk County, “Operation Karma” yielded 26 arrests, most were for failure to register a co-habitant’s vehicle. A violation of a law that many arrested had no clue about. Sheriff Grady Judd told WFTV, “The big question I have is why are these people not reporting these cars or their online identities? They are apparently up to no good and we are going to hold them accountable.” It seems nobody was caught being “up to no good”, they were just trapped by some confusing registration requirements.

And here’s a worst and one that we intend to follow up on… Earlier this month, Steven Williams, a homeless registrant from Brevard County was arrested for eating breakfast at a Burger King – a benign act, but the Burger King was apparently within 1000 feet of a tennis court! I hope they had the SWAT team out for the caged racoon. This story and the resources that were wasted boggles the mind. How many people not on the registry are actually arrested for failing to have a valid driver’s license or current license on their vehicle? How many drive without insurance? How many are not here legally? While the Big Guns are out trying to round up racoon rustlers and the likes, how much real crime is not pursued? Taxpayers need to revolt too. Frankly, I don’t know how anyone on the registry can live peacefully in Florida.

Family, financial, employment ties some people to Florida. Others have no idea where to move to.
There are so many factors keeping some tied down.
But can you imagine if every single registered citizen moved out of the state of Florida at the same time? How long do you think it would take for the list to fill back up again?

This is madness, fear, and propaganda. We are at the (lack of) mercy of our modern day politicians and legislators.
Unfortunately this is not centered in Florida much less the south, this is also our United States government at work here. Do not forget that.
The root of this lies at the federal government.
I don’t know what I’m trying to get at here other than reminding you that issues like these are much larger than locally elected ego’s.
I usually try to stick with facts in these posts and end with something positive to take away. It’s hard not to be frustrated. I think this might help:

Appearances are everything. They feed opinion and belief.

It works for those elected into any office. Make it work for you too.

I wouldn’t put a lot of blame on the criminal federal government. There are PLENTY of stupid local people all over the country. Big government people at all levels love Registries.

I agree with you about appearances. Every Registered Person and Familiy in the country needs to stop allowing law enforcement to get near them. If a person is not on probation or parole, he/she should not allow LE to “visit” them anywhere. Not even just to say “hello, yes I live here.” A person should certainly never sign anything at home or work.

All ~1 million people who are Registered in the U.S. need to stop giving ANY appearance that anything about the Registries is acceptable or legitimate. Allow these criminal regimes to visit you gives them power. Take it away. They are criminals that need to be controlled and corrected.

Was just coming on here to tell FAC about this but glad I looked first to see if you were on top of it, and you are.
I said in a previous post I knew this was coming. The sheriff’s office told me last time when I registered they were dotting their I’s and crossing their T’s with registered offenders and a ” Zero tolerance ” policy was now in effect. AND I am not even in Volusia. I was told that drug testing and polygraphs may be next. Now tell me that is NOT punitive. When I asked for that in writing so I could show it to my attorney, they said “Soon”.

They will not be administering drug tests or polygraphs on people not on probation.

I was not trying to spread rumors, just telling you what we were told after they started finger printing all of us every time now and we complained .They said it is to verify we are who we say we are and someone else is not registering for us. They then said wait until the polygraphs and drug testing starts.
I thought the polygraph statement odd because in my 7 years on probation not once was I asked to take a polygraph. I did get drug tested every time even though I had never used a drug in my life and always came up clean.

Thanks FAC for always looking out for us

    A disgusting waste of resources.

How many of those wasted resources could have been spent to prevent shootings and violence?

    Shameful.

The whole “Registering everyone that lives at you’re address” thing is COMPLETELY ILLEGAL AND WRONG !! My soon to be wife HATES IT !! She was pulled over for a tail light out, And of course, The Deputy ran the tag number and seen that I was on the “List” !! And IMMEDIATELY started giving her serious Attitude !! At first she didn’t know why, But realized it when the Deputy asked where I was !!!. She than Told him that it was NONE OF HIS BUSINESS ! And that either he write her a ticket or let her go !! Ohh she also told him that she was gonna make sure to follow up on why he was treating her so bad, Just because I FOLLOWED THE “ILLEGAL” LAW !! And made sure he understood that I NEVER drive her Vehicle !! That we own 11 Vehicles and always take one on “Mine” when we go somewhere together !!. He did release her WITHOUT a ticket, And she hasn’t had anymore issues, BUT she’s waiting and expecting it Everytime she drives !!. It’s NONE OF ANYONE’S BUSINESS who lives at my house, Or drives a vehicle at my house !! We should only be “Required” to give OUR PERSONAL Vehicle info, IF we have to give ANY !!!!. My fiance, Kids, Friends, Or Parents are NOT on the “List” and shouldn’t have to give their info to ANYONE ! Even if they live or Store their vehicles at my address !!. The “Registery” is a JOKE, And is a HUGE waste of money and time !! It doesn’t stop ANYONE from commiting another “Crime” IF I wanted too !¡.

It’s attitudes like his that keep fueling the fire for keeping registrants under the thumb of law enforcement and the citizen’s approval for it. I just wished someone would have asked him in the same interview how many arrested were up to no good and what “no good” were they up to.

This is why I’m leaving Florida. I’ve been on this thing 20 years there is no way I will not get a tec sooner or later by mistake and they aren’t taking I don’t know and sorry they are handing out prison time cause the points follow you and they don’t care. You easily could get more time than before depending on your deal for like not registering a email, work place, sticker on your ID, being gone 4 days, not telling them correct eye color putting out halloween stuff. Those are things I never agreed to taking a deal and things that in itself hurt no one. I mean you have to play along or goto jail but sooner or later they’ll get you and at best your really elderly and cheaper to give probation but from what I hear they aren’t coming off violating your rights and sending you to a very dangerous place for not registering your kids cars that’s away in college your making payments on they don’t care!

Crazy. 18 yrs no problems and boom. Report work address and passport in person, something is done incorrectly. Next annual notice, officer asked for passport. They can’t find it.

I re-enter it online using a mobile device and I assume an unsupported browser. It appears it takes and dissapears again.

I did something 4x before I was arrested for someone else’s mistakes. Did 30 days Jail and 6 mo probation.

I was told to never use mobile on the fdle site afterwards. You can’t correct the officers when they enter things or do things incorrectly. There is no trail of evidence of when something is accessed, changed or deleted (timestamp)

There is nothing stopping a person with access to this archaic system to alter, delete etc. For purposes of malice or lack of training.

There are zero instructions for browser compatibility, best practices or steps within the framework for best practices and successful user operation.

When I plead to the state in 2002, I was 22 yrs old. There was only a handful of requirements. I was promised I could apply to have myself removed after 10yrs. There are now more laws than I can count and they are ever-changing. They all have punishments that exceed my original sentence 18 yrs ago. There is way too much power in these laws as they always hold the Registered accountable. All laws of strict liability.

I can personally attest to that. I had reported travel for two trips weeks ahead of time. I reported a new trailer the following week: the travel WAS NOT THERE. I went the next day (day before travel for two months) with the original and the current. The person said i did NOT report the travel and was getting belligerent that i did not follow the 48 hour procedure and i showed them the previous note WITH the travel. Her response is that i need to make sure its correct. They DONT CARE they literally DONT CARE that I am doing what they say i need to do or that im in that damn office every month just for travel notification. some tell me the travel is three days i dont need to report if im
Back the night of the third day and others say i need to. There is no consistency in the vcso

I’ve had job addresses disappear. Internet identifiers disappear or move to other parts of report. I’ve had printouts with incorreft info that officers tell me it’s just tabs.
It’s literally the wild west. You piss them off and they can erase and ruin your life.
