US government commends Philippines for preventing 200 American registered sex offenders from entering.

The United States government has commended the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for preventing 200 American registered sex offenders (RSOs) from entering the Philippines in 2018.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said Friday the bureau was recently awarded a certificate of commendation by the US Embassy in Manila after registering the second highest number of excluded American RSOs throughout the world last year.

Mexico, which shares a land border with the US in the southwest, recorded the highest number of intercepted RSOs.

“I commend our officers deployed at our ports of entry for a job well done. Because of your vigilance and alertness, you were able to turn away these sex offenders to protect fellow Filipinos from possible exploitation,” Morente said in a statement.

The US Embassy’s citation specifically commended the BI’s port operations division (POD) as well as the airport operations section (AOS), travel control and enforcement unit (TCEU), and border control and enforcement unit (BCIU), which are all under the POD, for successfully implementing the “Angel Watch” program in the country’s ports.

Somebody has to write to the department of state that their commendation means that they agree there is no recidivism in ex-sex offenders, and that is why they want the ex-sex offenders back into the us.

Seems like someone out of those 200 would be a great Case for the ACLU on the new passport stamp. Has FAC heard of any federal lawsuits coming up for the international Megan law?

Indeed. Or a group of them as well. the more the merrier I would think.
Particularly the ones with family members there and with children of their own. Those who have official business there depending on income for their lively hood would be a good candidate as well.

It was the members of the U.S Congress who wrote and passed all the law’s against sex offenders. Go to Google and start googling Congress members changed with committing sex offences and you will find that over half of Congress has used tax payers money to buy off their victims. Mind you now that’s the same Congress what wrote and passed the laws so they knew what they were doing was a crime and what the consequences we’re. By paying off their accusers they admitted their guilt. If people like Bill Clinton and members of Congress are not going to held to the law’s they passed why should anyone else be held to follow their law’s when they don’t?

I m certainly not an Attorney but since the statistics show that those on the registry are no less likely to reoffend than the general population. Proven in part by the fact that by far most offenses are committed by those not on the registry. Why should not the burden of proof be put on the prosecution to prove in each case that this individual is more likely by far to injure someone than the general population before they are put on a registry in the first place. Does not the law say innocent until proven guilty , or is that just “ fake news”.
I personally know that that is what plea bargains are for is to get you to feel like your getting off easy when there trying to charge you with something they can’t prove usually because you’re not guilty, and making it sound like a good deal .
It’s like trying to beat the dealer in a card game when he sees the cards before there delt .

Very Sad my wife is Filipino and we wanted to travel there for Christmas 2019 . She wanted to show our children what a $hit hole her country was. Now she will travel by herself because now my country is the same $hithole and now I am a prisoner. First it was the cruise ships banning then AIRBNB…then the British Virgin Islands…..now my country has me imprisoned again…
