WV: Large number of Flock ‘hits’ tied to sex offenders, not active investigations
During a recent information session, representatives of the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department said the county’s 20 Flock Safety license plate reader cameras captured some 572,370 unique license plate images over a 30-day period.
The department gets a number of hits through the NCIC that it never investigates because the plates are tied to known sex offenders and not an active crime or investigation. “If you’re a registered sex offender, you’re in NCIC. So every time a sex offender drives by these cameras, they go off,” Ralston said, explaining more hits are generated by sex offenders than anything else.
By way of example, he showed all the NCIC hits that officers were alerted to between July 1 and July 17. During that time, 135 hits were sex offenders.

i see all the back and forth from members here and i think we are missing the major point.
The Federal and local governments have allowed municipalities to places FLOCK cameras everywhere and take away everyone’s liberty
with the advancement of AI and so on we are allowing them to slowly eliminate all of our liberties.
The average person on the registry or not just wants to be left alone
states have motto’s like live free or die and the great patrick henry said hundreds of years ago “give me liberty or give me death”
people on and off the registry have a common enemy here we have to get everyone on board to eliminate that enemy
No one wants to live in a nanny state and to be honest i never thought i would see this in the United States.

The question should be why are they getting active hits on LPRs for RSOs.
Isnt a warrant required to perform and investigation on someone?
So RSOs are subject to 4th amendment violations by default?
Here is my crazy opinion on this. If I am not doing something wrong, then I don’t care if Lowes, Home Depot, etc. causes a Flock hit? I am lost on this maybe. In my county I don’t think there are any laws or municipal codes about where I can and cannot drive through
Except that private companies like this will start using Flock cameras, and facial recognition, to ban us from their stores if they so choose. Any private company can legally do this, Disney already does and has for years. There’s no telling what may be next for us…
If a retail store wanted to ban RSOs from their premises, they could simply ban RSOs from their premises. They might even get law enforcement to trespass those RSOs. They don’t need to wait on Flock before they can institute a ban.
Fortunately, I have not heard of any retail stores anywhere instituting such a policy. You?
No, I haven’t, but I often wonder if someone is watching us in Walmart or wherever just because we triggered some database, similar to this article with cops getting flock hits on us. The world seems to be becoming a scarier place every day for us, and I don’t know about everyone else but it sure does bum me out sometimes…

I absolutely want that to happen. That would be the point I believe the Supreme court would finally make a decision that has to be for us. Even when we were on Probation and even house arrest, I was able to go to the store. The difference was that I had to make a weekly list of things I was going to do and places I was going to visit.
For now, we can enter a store, do our business, pay, leave and move on without any issues. As I mentioned before, I had more freedom on probation that I do not now because of all the new crap they keep throwing at us, even though we are no longer on probation. Seems nothing anymore is punishment and they change it to “Administrative not punishment”.
FLOCK cameras are being put up all over the country and there has been no actual proof they make anyone safer just like the registry.
Its all about tracking every American 24/7 and selling the data to the highest bidder.

Not only is life going to get harder for registrants but for everyone in general.

The article reports that shareholders at Home Depot and Lowe’s are pressuring the companies to be more transparent about their use of Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras in store parking lots. These cameras record vehicles entering and leaving and contribute data to searchable databases used by many law enforcement agencies

I saw that Volusia was instituting a domestic violence registry. Everything I read sounds eerily familiar to me. The scariest comment to me, came from Emma Sanders, the domestic abuse council’s Director of Community Impact. She said “the (domestic violence) registry is a way for people in the community to be aware of who they are dating, hiring, or hanging out with. This registry is ten years retroactive. It feels like the beginning of residency, employment and other restrictions that we have.
Another state tried to do something similar. It was a violent offense registry, but it got shut down by opponents for the same reasons we have been trying to shut down the registry.
