Another chance to Vote: Do you think “sex offenders” can be rehabilitated
Last month members chimed in on whether a registrant should be involved in civic life and we were successful in making sure the poll reflected our voice.
A new poll from California’s KMPH Fox 26 News asks a simple question: Can people on the sex offender registry be rehabilitated?
The data says yes. But systems like Florida’s say no — imposing lifetime consequences, no matter how much someone changes.
So what do you believe? If you believe people are more than the worst thing they’ve ever done and have the capacity to change, make sure your vote is counted. If you believe in accountability and redemption, make sure your vote is counted. And if you want the public to know that there are people out there who believe people on the registry can be rehabilitated, VOTE YES NOW!!!

The setup for the question uses the most salacious poster boy sex offender they could muster up, then after getting all of that pent up outrage mustered, they ask the question in the poll. This is about as biased a poll as could be engineered. The people behind this poll, and the website itself, should not consider themselves journalists in any capacity whatsoever.
I’ll be glad for the day when this industry collapses due to AI. It couldn’t be a more manipulated industry if they tried.
I tried to comment on the Fox 26 page and low and behold it’s behind a paywall.

Here’s what I was trying to post;
I dont know why sexual offences are more prevalent in the news now. Maybe it’s the shark bite story of 2026. Maybe not. I have seen an overwhelming need for regular citizens to have a whipping boy in recent years. I know that choices I’ve made in life have led me to where I am just as with the rest of the population. I also know that when I made horrendous decisions that changed the life of others I did so knowing I was doing wrong. I would imagine other people who have made bad decisions have done so knowing it was wrong. I would think I’m not alone in thinking I’ve grown away from making those bad decisions as would others who are now learning from life and making better decisions.
It’s my opinion that we as Americans want to live in a country of laws but we have sadly seen far too often our representatives living far from accountability and I would also think that that has something to do with this insatiable desire to have a state sponsored whipping boy.
The idea, the mere contemplation that the one crime that allows citizens to openly mock and threaten others is something that can’t be rehabilitated seems to me to be not unlike the days of the scarlet letter where misdirection from politicians to say look over there don’t look at me is at hand.
We ‘the citizenry’ are better than that.
dumbest question ever posed. Anyone can change at any time

People can change. regardless of what crime they have committed. The system of Florida IS ridiculous. The system needs to change. Also some crimes of Sex offenders are too severe and that also needs change.
