‘Sex-bots’ – Good or Bad?

An interesting opinion piece just came out on Newsweek. the opinion is that “Sex Robots Could Empower Pedophiles and Sex Offenders”.

Sex robots (or ‘Sex-bots’) are anatomically correct sex toys with features designed to simulate real human characteristics. Imagine a cross between a blow-up doll and Teddy Ruxpin, but with all the latest technology.

They make ‘sex-bots’ to appeal to a wide variety of preferences, including race and gender. But they also make some robots which many people feel “cross the line”, most specifically ‘pedo-bots’ which are made to appear like children.

On one end of the argument; these ‘bots’ can produce “harm limitation”, meaning someone who has a sexual inclination, can “get whatever they need out of their system” with a robot, rather than seeking out an actual person. Similar to the use of dildos or vibrators – one would use them for gratification, rather than engaging in behavior that could be risky.

On the other end of the argument is that these ‘bots’ can lead to actual offending. Once someone gets tired of their robot, they may actually seek out a live victim. Like the argument that pornography is a “gateway” to actual offending.

The opinion piece was prompted by a study I, Sex Robot: the health implications of the sex robot industry that study analyzed the ‘sex-bot’ industry and asks whether the bots promote safer sex, have therapeutic value, can be used to treat people with deviant urges. Their conclusion was that it’s too early to tell whether there’s any medical/therapeutic benefit to sex-bots or whether these new sex toys will lead to more harm.

What do you think? Chime in below.

Just like all sexual “substitutes”, it will not fulfill, it will only lead you into more ways to look for false gratification.

Things like this really tick me off !! Sex is the most promoted thing on this PLANET !! Almost every (even kids ) movie has a Sex scene or sexual reference. Even clothing is bought according to how “Sexy” they make people look, Everything has a SEXUAL ROOT !!!!. Yet, Whenever someone “Acts” towards what they’ve been “Taught” to do Taught about sex since day one !!!, They/we/you get into trouble for it !!!!

A very interesting idea indeed. And I agree, it maybe too early to know whether these “sex bots” will have positive or negitive endings to their useage. A question to be asked is, how are these bots being used in Japan where they’re being made? What have they discovered about their use and is there any comparison in other countries? (Maybe too early, eh?) And yet, I wonder how this might keep sex offenders from repeating and creating more tragedy, despite the fact that they have the LOWEST repeat in offense than any other crime. (I think I read that 95% are NEW offenders not repeats) Hmmmm. I’d love to read an update in six months to a year on this subject to see what, if anything, has changed over time.

Didn’t they arrest an older man who had a female robot? He had all kinds of assessories for it.
The whole thing seems weird but it kept him happy.
I believe that if it keeps a person off the streets it serves it’s purpose. Why argue over something people know nothing about?

Of all the things I could waste my money on, this will not be one of them.

What it leads to I don’t know., but meaningful sex should be an expression of effect ion a giving not just a receiving sexbots takes that out of the process. So it encourages selfishness and drives it deeper into ones motives which can only be a bad effect.
