OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted checks on the hundreds of sex offenders and predators in the county and found dozens of them are still breaking the law.
When members of the sex offender and predator unit checked up on all 550 offenders and predators living in Osceola County, they didn’t just check addresses, they checked everything.
Detective Michelle Keefer called it a “deep dive.”
“Residency, driver’s license, phone number, employment, social media, internet sites,” Keefer said.
This operation shows that when it comes to “catching” “sex offenders” breaking the “law,” money is no object. Seven months, six days a week. How many millions of dollars does that add up to?

Truth be known, most citizens probably break some sort of law everytime they leave their home, get into their car, and go to the grocery store.
Years ago when I was undergoing polygraphs in Virginia I had to ask the head of the poly company to replace the woman who was administering my polygraphs. I felt that she was getting her ‘jollies’ out of asking me questions and hearing my responses.
I think it is human nature to go for the easiest/lowest hanging fruit (Target).
95% of new sex crimes are committed by non- offenders, I would be more impressed to see the law Enforcement apparatus be more proactive on the larger scale.
I’m a little confused about this. Unless you’re on probation you do not have to show the police anything other then your ID. They can not come into your home, they can’t search your phone or computer. In fact you don’t even have to cooperate at all with them in any way. So the point is…are these people they’re harassing on probation ? If they aren’t just tell them to have a nice day and close the door. When the sheriff comes to my house I do not let them in. I close the door, get ,y license and step outside with the door closed behind me. I am under NO obligation to let him or her into my home, although I will add, that never has the sheriff deputy ever tried to get in my home either.

In looking at the article, only 67 out of 550 registrants? No word on the 483 who were compliant? I wonder if any of the general readers paused to do the basic math in this respect?
I’d like to know, instead of the nebulous “some”, just how many of the 67 were actually downloading CP or committing another $ex-focused crime? Am I correct in assuming the number would be much smaller?
“Some” MUST have meant two or three. Had it been any larger, the detective would have specified.
Even one viewer of such material is too many, of course. But the detective didn’t sound too certain of the ages of those depicted. Thankfully, not one of the 550 had attempted any hands-on crime. We know this because, if they had, the detectives and reporters would have made a big deal of it.
483 compliant, my mistake, I said 525. But I would still maintain that almost none of the 67 (?) non-complaints did anything that people would recognize as a crime. They may have been registration crimes that have no relationship to sexual abuse prevention.

You are under no obligation to do anything other than show ID.
If they ask questions (and you are not on probation) tell them you will not answer their questions without a lawyer present.
No they are ones who are above the law should go after ones who make the movie and ones who are selling if so worry of a sudden them give them shelter indoor they did their time ask their victims if had any what they still want to punish them

Aside from any new offense against a child, I wonder how many of these “dozens of sex offenders still breaking the law”, were doing it intentionally? Its so hard for many registrants to keep up with the “laws” against them, and usually an offense is unintentional. Most are not sitting in front of a computer or phone screen and reading newspapers to keep up. They are just struggling to make it day by day. These detectives must be so proud of themselves. I hope someone is able to get the statistics of these offenses.
I suspect all were unintentional, since our law is strict liability.
Except maybe for the suspected child pornography possessed, according to the detective, by “some” (two? three?) registrants— and even in those cases, the detective did not seem to be sure whether the victims were children or not.
Getting the statistics would be a great idea! If anybody here is familiar with how to do it. Because out of 550 county registrants, it appears that at least 546 of them exhibited no evidence of attempting a new sex crime, and about 525 were found not to have broken any laws at all. That is a credit to the individual rehabilitation efforts of these registrants, despite so much stacked against them.
when is it going to stop? what other human in the united states esp. in Florida is afraid to go to the bathroom cause they will go to prison if they did not report their morning crap? scared to 1/10th live a normal life cause they may of forgotten to dot an “i” when they registered, or someone is sending out virus emails from an old email account that got hacked (had a friend that was hacked and just received another one the other day from their email, happens once every 6 – 12 months).
been dealing with this crap that is only getting worse for 20 years. most people even parents or other loved ones may not think that a little tiny change in the SO laws mean anything but i will tell you that the little tiny change most likely shortens my life from all the stress especially as i get older my memory is not nearly as good as it was. I wish GOD will call my number when I’m asleep. will most likely be found there when they break down my door to arrest me for not reporting cause ever since i took my plea for 3 years probation instead of going to trial and face 20 years from Florida + arrest from feds (yea some choice) my family don’t know who i am, my hick neighbors would rather shoot me! so i hope my number gets called soon as I’m so scared to even wipe my A$$ after my morning crap and not reporting it! What other humans must endure this crap? Ohh that’s right were not human, were lower then animals hell i think most would rather live in a toxic landfill then have a SO as a neighbor or in the neighborhood!
Once again an “objective reporter” covering a story involving sex offenders presents only the perspective of law enforcement and fails to proffer facts. The headline itself induces readers to leap to the conclusion that all of the offenders cited are continuing to break the law by committing new crimes involving sex. I want to know the total numberof offenders that law enforcement investigated, how many were violated and/or received new charges due to registration discrepancies, and how many were charged with new sex crimes. Without providing such facts, the author is seeking to inflame, not inform.

You do realize that the “detectives” involved are bigger perverts than those labelled as “sex offenders”. This is one bad joke. Florida is run like an insane asylum run by sadistic sociopaths.

Also, I wouldn’t believe any law enforcement criminals (LECs) saying what they found or didn’t. IF anyone ever was convicted of a specific crime, then I MIGHT believe they did it. So those CP viewers probably don’t even exist.
The article is really bragging about offenders and predators “still breaking law”. But Registration laws aren’t real laws. They are idiotic, made-up, illegal “laws” that no real American could ever dream of thinking were acceptable. So no normal person should care.
I’m not on probation or parole and I’d never allow these LECs onto my property or to speak to them for more than a few seconds. People who do allow that are signaling that the harassment is just fine. They’ll keep getting what they allow.
Yet, the registration requirements are not punishment. Yeah, right (sarcasm).
