FAC President Quoted in Naples Daily News

Although it wasn’t an article about sex offenders per-se, FAC President Gail Colletta contributed a quote to a Naples Daily News article about housing for ex-felons.

“‘Sorry, we don’t rent to felons’ — we get that excuse all the time,” said Colletta, who now heads a Lake Monroe, Florida-based advocacy group for sex offenders called the Florida Action Committee.

But sex offenders are overwhelmingly one-time offenders, have a low recidivism rate, and in most cases aren’t a danger to the community'”

HUD recently issued guidelines that would reduce housing discrimination against those who have criminal records, noting that nearly 1/3 of our population has some sort of record.
