There are many factors associated with reoffending such as social and emotional isolation, unemployment or not having something meaningful to do in life. India has 134 central jails, and at the time of my prison research of convicted rapists, Tihar alone had around 400 convicted male rapists serving sentences that ranged from five years to life. While it is a bitter pill to swallow for the public when it comes to rehabilitating sex offenders, the hardest fact that we must face is that the vast majority of sex offenders will one day be released and we need to provide support for their reintegration to avoid reoffending and to reduce future victimisation.

Why not put them all on a government shame blacklist and banish them from community resources.
Then you could publish all of their personal information on a publicly accessible shame-website, so vigilantes could have their turn at them!

I haven’t read the entire article and I probably don’t need to. Just the part published here is enough. “400 convicted male rapists”..?? And some only severing as little as 5 yrs?
So all 400 are definitely “rapists”? There’s no consensual age gap (under age teen) involvements in that 400 men? There’s no underage teen online chat with older men in a sting operation? These are literally all rapists?
Ok, I’ll go along with “all rapists” and still say this; ANY offense dealing with the horrific natural act of sex is going to be deemed “violent”. And that’s the problem with getting sex offense laws changed and getting people with certain offenses off these damn lifetime registries. The powers that be have brainwashed the idiots of the public to believe that those of us who had relationships similar to Elvis and Priscilla are somehow “violent” and “threats to public safety”.
This madness has got to stop. No thief gets 15 yrs for stealing cigarettes or food from a gas station store. But you’ll get 15 or more for robbing a bank.
The punishment is different based on what the crime was.
So why are people deemed “threats to public safety” for the Elvis/Priscilla type rendezvous when the damn sex offense registry was made due to PSYCHOTIC CHILD MURDERING RAPISTS??

Think about this;
We know teens get ahold of alcohol, tobacco and even weed. You’d be LYING to yourself if you think teenagers don’t dabble in drugs, especially weed since our liberal society treats weed as if it’s something new because they weren’t around when it was really popular in the “flower child” era of the 60’s and early 70’s. Weed smokers act like it’s some newly invented drug.
Ok, so we all know that “kids” (if that’s what you want to call teenagers) dabble in this crap. Weed, alcohol and tobacco are NOT NATURAL SUBSTANCES TO BE PUT INTO OUR BODIES.
Guess what IS natural to do…. Wait for it…. OMG! SEXUAL EXPERIMENTATION/INTERCOURSE! Wow! Who’d have thunk?
But what does society flip out over? Not so much finding out that their teenage son or daughter got hold of alcohol, cigarettes or weed. Naaaaaah! Let’s flip the f*ck out that our teenage “kids” nearly old enough to operate a motor vehicle DARED to engage in the natural act of SEX!!! And the person they did it with was more than 3 yrs older then them!!! OMG!!! They’re ruined for life!!
I guess weed and alcohol doesn’t ruin anyone, eh? Have we, as a society, changed our minds about the impact of becoming ADDICTED to substances???
It’s been over a quarter of a century that this damn registry has been ruining lives with the public shaming that ended back in the colonial days.
It’s time to stop ASS KISSING with your arguments to judges and legislators and start telling it like the f*ck it is! NARSOL, FAC and any other advocacy group that has the means, knowledge and attorneys to fight these ridiculous registries has to stop sugarcoating for the “politically correct” crowd in the power positions.
It’s maybe time after 25 yrs of softly trying to fight the registry crap to maybe start getting a little more AGGRESSIVE. Look at the times we’re in. Everyone is being more aggressive about what they’re fighting for. Stop cowering!
