Looking for attorney referrals in North Florida

We receive many requests for attorneys who have specialized knowledge of sex offender issues or who have been especially effective in dealing with other’s cases. We post these referrals on our Attorney Referral Page, free of charge, so that those who are facing personal legal issues can find representation from a vetted professional.

Unfortunately, we do not have many referrals in northern Florida, so if you have had an experience with an attorney in that area who you would refer to other FAC members, please share their contact information with [email protected] or use the Referral Submission form.

Someone mentioned a Casey Steele of Steele Trial Law. But I’m having difficulty verifying this attorney’s existence.

Sounds like the 1980s tv show Remington Steele to me.

In all honesty, I spent 10 minutes online for you and also got zero hits from either the name of the lawyer or the law firm. Odd and somewhat fishy.

Even the newest dull lawyer on Earth should have some online presence, even if just good or bad review.

My question is Duval County is the largest county in the state yet FAC has no attorney referrals for this area I know most of them are scared to try and defend you but there has got to be at less one out there that has some BALLS to go up against these Assholes that run the court system here in JAX so far I have found none please lets get some lawyers here that will fight for our cause The 20yr plan is long enough

I was @ work when the sheriff’s deputy came to my house @ 5:30 a.m. my wife who was already awake sheinformed him that he missed me by about 15 minutes. So what did he do ? He came the next morning @ 4:30 a.m waking everyone in the house up. My adult daughter hates it about as much as I do

I assume that FAC is already recommending Gilbert Schaffnit. I cannot recommend him too much! He’s my hero.

Why is it so difficult for sex offenders to find a lawyer or a program that is willing to help them instead of pre- judging them or turning them away because their ability to not be able to pay the appropriate funds?? I also noticed that we (sex offenders ) always asked to contributed to your cause by donating dollars but at the same time… I never hear anything about how you helped someone get off of the sex offenders registry list?? I really wished that I had the funds to start my own program.. because I would certainly help those who are wrongly placed on the sex offenders registry list like myself!!

George, FAC has many lawsuits they are part of trying to fix the problems, but the system is against us and is slow. I am anxiously awaiting the ex post facto case myself.

As for attorneys, I am using Robert Shafer & Associates in Jacksonville with a failure to report case I am facing. Just starting but they were reasonable on rates and seemed willing to help. The attorney mentioned they have had several of these cases recently.

I have a good one in Central Florida who has gotten several people off the registry but they already met the statutory years to be allowed to petition to be removed and I have not. ( I would have but they keep adding to the time now it went to 25 ) And it is not 25 from when you were sentenced ( I am wayyyy past that ) it is from when you were off of paper. I was sentenced way before any registries existed. Retroactively applied
Besides I couldn’t afford him anyway and with any lawyer, there is NO guarantee of a win even with a slam dunk case. He was going to help me with a registry restriction that he says does not apply to me but I should have to come up with $1000.00 to get FDLE to do their damn job.

I paid Shafer $1,000 to get off probation a year early. He failed.

You cannot blame your attorney unless you have evidence they didn’t try. The same attorney can go before two different judges and get two different results. I tried getting off probation and failed and went back two years later using same lawyer but with an appeals judge and won with flying colors. That judge even bashed the first judge for letting her personal feelings influence the sentencing of someone who had never even had a parking ticket before.
On that note, I did use a lawyer for my divorce who did nothing but get scared of the judge and basically I had to pay the lawyer to get bent over by the courts. He we so useless I never heard from him again and he stopped taking my calls.
If you think your lawyer was useless, get a new lawyer and appeal the denial ( If possible ) or go back in a year with another lawyer but guarantee from any lawyer that you will win. Any lawyer who ever tells you that is full of it. They can tell you that you have an excellent case but they can never guarantee a win. Even in personal injury cases where it is obvious someone was at fault, a court can throw the case out on a technicality or because they are having a bad day.

I meant no guarantee you will win

True, but in Floriduh, you are assigned a judge and are pretty much stuck with him/her until they die, retire, or get promoted. I fall back on the old adage:

If you want justice, go to a wh0reh0u$e. If you want to get fu¢ked, go to court!
