Florida Action Committee concentrates its limited resources and efforts primarily on issues that deal with the registry in Florida, but there are occasions when proposed bills in other states are so heinous that many of our members want to reach out to state legislators, trying to stop the bills from becoming law. There is always the possibility that these bad laws could spread like a cancer to other states such as Florida. Two bills in Louisiana are bills of concern for our members: HB 166 (forced vasectomy bill) and SB 371 (surgical castration).
On SB 371, Louisiana Senator Ed Price asks, “Castration is permanent, whether it’s female or male. How do we get by someone who may get exonerated after, and then this has happened to them?” The sponsor of SB 371, Senator Regina Barrow, acknowledged that Louisiana has a high number of wrongful convictions when compared to other states, but the bill provides for judges to use their own discretion. Barrow hopes that judges will be able to see through the aspects of cases and MAYBE not sentence persons to actually having the surgical castration, if appropriate.
Barrows has her head buried in the sand! Will her next bill be to cut off the hands of all thieves hoping that if a defendant does not deserve such a barbaric sentence, the judge will figure it out?
Even though Florida Action Committee is not putting out a Call to Action for these two bills, another group is. We will be posting their Call to Action once we receive it, so stay tuned.
They treat women like chattel, now they want to firther dehumanize SOs. Hopefully, soon, everyone abandons these inhumane states and make them human deserts.
I am a person forced to register in Louisiana.
In an interview with KTAL-TV, Rep Boyd revealed that she wrote this bill as a response to Louisiana’s recent ban on abortion. She is using this as a form of birth control. Google “KTAL-TV HB166” and you can see the interview.
I assume that Skinner v Oklahoma would come into play here.
That case is a unanimous United States Supreme Court ruling that held that laws permitting the compulsory sterilization of criminals are unconstitutional.
Another question is, how many men will get accused of rape when the woman gets pregnant from a consensual act between both parties. We all know that there is plenty of cases where that does happen. And now with the believe all women Era we are in. How many men will be arrested,labeled,forced thru surgery and loose everything. Sadly some are real which is disgusting, but now days there is tons of false accusations. As we all have seen, with the title sex offender there is and never will be a fair trial.
The obvious question is what if the judge guesses wrong? Then what? These bills are barbaric. Are the legislators expecting to have SCOTUS overturn Skinner v. OKLAHOMA?
So what is “castration” for a female offender? Is it a radical clitoridectomy, also known as “female genital mutilation?” Is the state of Louisiana really prepared to join with the likes of terrorist groups such as ISIS and Al-Shabaab in committing this atrocity, which the United States has condemned? For any sex offense against a minor under 13.
So a woman who exposes herself to a 12 year old in Louisiana will be forcibly sedated, dragged to the nearest operating room, and forced to undergo female genital mutilation? If I’m not mistaken, there was an episode of “The Handmaid’s Tale” very similar to this. Louisiana, are you really prepared to place yourself on par with Middle Eastern terrorist groups and the Republic of Gilead? Because that’s exactly what you’re doing.
Why is it only mutilation if applied to a female?
It is not. It is mutilation for a male, too. We are fighting to prevent both.
I’m watching that show now. And the funny thing is Gilead was previously the United States.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but the female equivalent to castration would be removal of the ovaries. A vasectomy is more akin to a tubal ligation in women. These distinctions don’t make the proposed laws any less barbaric. Most males in this country are routinely and without their consent subjected to male genital mutilation shortly after birth. The female equivalent of circumcision is a clitorectomy, i.e. female genital mutilation.
I can only assume that the rationale for castration is to reduce testosterone production and any corresponding sex drives. A vasectomy would not achieve that same result. Perhaps these lawmakers in their twisted thinking believe they can eliminate pregnancies from rape. I’ll say it again, these politicians in Louisiana are nuts (no pun intended).
Removing the ovaries doesn’t stop a female from having sexual desires. It would be the clitoris, like in Islam. Unfortunately, this procedure was done to my current wife. But she also told me that not everyone does it. It also doesn’t fully take away the woman’s sexual desire. It just softens it. The idea behind this, as I was told, is to reduce female infidelity to their husbands.
You are absolutely right about that barbaric procedure. I was just making an anatomical observation. Ovaries are the equivalent in women to testicles in men in terms of hormone production. Since the penis is an analog to the clitoris, male genital mutilation would involve trimming the penis. The forced castration or any sort of surgical procedures like that protects no one and spiritually harms a society that promotes it. All the best to you and your wife, Maestro.
