+"Operation Predator" comes to Florida

The latest media hype,  government funds cash-grab, sex offender compliance check is heading across Florida. This time it’s being given the  ominous name “Operaton Predator”

As this article states, the operation just passed through Pasco county, where over 900 registered citizens were “checked”, even (as is the example in the article) when their offense dates back to the 80’s and even when they don’t have a home and live in a cardboard box because it’s nearly impossible to find work as a registered sex offender.

Good waste of taxpayer funds and police effort, huh? How’s that backlog of rape kits coming, Ms. Bondi?

County sheriff has changed the name from. Address verification to compliance check. Live at same address for 25 years. Been off probation 20. They still come to your residence over 5times a year. Believing they are PO’s

What a ridiculous name to an operation. Florida and American keep embarrassing themselves to the entire world and sadly I don’t think they care in sounding and looking stupid. This is so sad that this has to continue even when an individual has completed their sentence and paid their debts. Some of these detectives are so ignorant by saying ” well, they committed the crime then so be it.” …What a vindictive prick with such a medieval mentality. This operation is just an excuse to actually make these uneducated morons of law enforcement agencies justify the payroll. In other words, ” hey we have to pay you then you have to do something, not just sit in a car for hours eating doughnuts and God knows what else they do in there. Pathetic. You want a real operation predator ? Go monitor the suits at Wall street, the U.S. congress and even your very own Law enforcement agencies. Bet you’ll find tons of criminal activities there.

I KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP! Sent this email to FAC the other day (Some parts redacted):

    FAC,

Something is up in Pasco County.

    XXXX.

My PCSO Detective is very helpful and very supportive. He has been very open with me about my situation, what to expect from him/ the system, and what he expects from me.

    XXXX

He showed up to my shop (I’m self employed) on Fri XXXX. We talked- everything was fine.

Today (3:30pm Mon Feb 22) a Detective I had not previously met showed up to my residential address to do a “check-up” on me. She spoke to my father and he, in turn, called me.

I called my initial Officer and he said “She’s just helping me out. There’s no problem. Just give her a call.” (I personally think this is BS but you know how far we get with these things) So I called her.

She informed me that “they” were requiring the Detectives to do status checks on all 875+ registered citizens in Pasco County and that she would be available until 9pm if I got back to my place before then (mind you, I am not “supervised” and really had no intention of going home after work – how’s that for being “free?”)

I told her I would call if I got home but that I had some questions:

1- Who were “they” that were requiring this check? (Answer: the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office)
2- I just registered in my birth month of XXXX and nothing had changed. What information did she need (Answer: They’re just having us double-check registrant’s info)
3- Why is the Sheriff’s Office requiring Detectives do additional checks above the legal requirement of registering? (Answer: That is a question for the Sheriff’s Office. She is a “Warrants Officer” and only helping out the SO Division. There is no warrant for me- it’s just a check.”)

SO…if FAC has come to know that the PCSO has recently been directed to do additional checks on Registered Citizens perhaps FAC would like an on-the-record statement from the PSCO?

    Just sayin’…

[I guess we got our answer. Waxler is not a bad guy. I’ve spoken to him. But classically this “stranger danger” story ends with the pandering “To keep track of any sex offenders in your neighborhood, you can register on the FDLE’s website: http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us” as if children are being snatched out of parent’s arms on a daily basis.]
