This story from South Florida of a man hunting down registered citizens and assaulting them at their doorsteps with a hammer has really gotten our attention this week.

For one; it underscores the harm that the list can do to registered citizens and their families.

Secondly; the charges that will be levied against the attacker in this case show society’s acceptance of the mistreatment of registered citizens.

The Miami Herald reports, “Ian Michael Saum of Clermont was charged this week with burglary and criminal mischief. Cops say he looked up sex offenders online and then tried to attack one by ringing his doorbell and asking for a man believed to be a sex offender.”

Burglary and criminal mischief???? Are you kidding me?!?!?!?

Burglary is a third degree felony if convicted and criminal mischief is generally a misdemeanor. They are more concerned about the fact that this guy broke into the registrants home and damaged his property, than the fact that he, perpetrated from a premeditated design the intent to cause seriously bodily harm or death to another.

If the victim were a “regular” human being, they would be charging him with attempted first degree murder or at least aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. If the victim were gay or a minority it would be a hate crime on top of that!

But because the victim is on the state sanctioned hit list, the property damage is more important than the human life.

Pathetic!
