Thank you for reading, watching and sharing
The last two weeks have included some long articles and a lot of information. If you read them, thank you. If you only had time to skim, thank you for that too.
The embedded links lead to public information you can examine for yourself. They help show how laws, agencies, funding and everyday restrictions connect. Each article is one piece of the pie, helping us understand the larger system and ask better questions.
Our YouTube Shorts have been getting hundreds of views overnight, and you are helping make that happen. Every view, share and thoughtful comment gives our work another chance to reach someone. Thank you, all of you, for helping expand FAC’s mission.
The mission behind the work
FAC educates the public, media and elected officials about the facts surrounding registration, advocates evidence-based prevention, and works toward abolishing Florida’s registry.
“FAC seeks proven, effective measures in preventing sexual harm without compromising public safety.”
That is why sharing reliable information matters. Read FAC’s mission and vision.

Checked against FAC’s public calendar October 10. Schedules can change.
This Sunday, we want to make room for some encouragement. People are rebuilding their lives, families are helping change laws, and volunteers are showing what support and accountability can look like. There is difficult work ahead, but there are also reasons to keep going.
A second chance that becomes a helping hand
In North Dakota, Calvin Till describes working as a peer-support specialist and house manager at a transitional residence for people on the registry. He is on the registry himself and helps others navigate employment, housing and life after incarceration.
His April 17 account of Fargo’s Restorative Paths program offers something worth holding onto: a person facing these barriers can also become someone who helps others through them.
Families helping open a path to relief
Missouri’s SB 982 took effect August 28. Among its changes, certain people whose removal petitions were denied can apply again before the usual five-year wait when the law supporting that denial has changed.
The Missouri Alliance for Family Restoration describes the organizing behind the legislation. This is a mixed law with eligibility limits, not automatic removal. Still, its relief provisions show that persistent advocacy can produce concrete changes.
People who keep showing up
A September 23 Peterborough Currents story follows volunteers supporting people after sexual-offense convictions. Their circles combine honest conversations about harm with practical help, encouragement and ordinary human connection.
One man who doubted his prospects attended a job fair and found a reason to keep trying. The program faces resource challenges during a change of providers, but the volunteers’ commitment is a reminder that rebuilding takes people willing to stay involved.
Encouraging research, with the limits included
An April study of a Michigan program for young people found lower general reoffending among successful graduates than among matched comparison participants. The program combines treatment with an opportunity to finish with a nonregistrable conviction.
The study was small and nonrandomized, and the difference in sexual reoffending was not statistically significant. It offers a promising direction for further research, rather than proof that one approach works for everyone.
In case you missed it: The Miami Times
The Miami Times brought FAC’s housing challenge to its readers in an October 7 report by Amelia Orjuela Da Silva. The article examines residency restrictions, shelter barriers and camping bans, with comments from Teresa Bond and the county’s perspective.
It brings an important question to a wider audience: where can people lawfully live? FAC’s federal case remains pending. Thank you to the journalists taking time to examine the people and policies behind the headlines.
Help keep the work moving
FAC’s legal fundraising display reports $135,149 toward $170,000, or 79%, as of October 9. That leaves $34,851 toward the displayed goal, including funds raised and earmarked by partner associations.
If you can give, please support the General Legal Fund, which helps sustain FAC v. Glass and other legal challenges. Contributions also keep research, filings and the work behind those cases moving.

I am as always considering moving to Europe to escape the registry. Anything more than 10 years is just extra punishment that is unnecessary to continually punish me and everyone else in my family too. I don’t mind giving a voice for change when it is needed but I have been on the registry for 13 years. I won’t stay on it much longer.
There are a few countries that even with International Megan’s Law or angels watch-they just do not care its the US side that cares not them they have their own Goverments. Check those who have been on the list famous and see where they travel to as a first step.
